Xiaomi Mi A1 2017 Price In India RS 14,999
Xiaomi took the curtain from the new Mi A1 Android One smartphone last week. Which is now the new face of Google’s Android One project. This Chinese company has worked with Google for about a month for the A1 Android One smartphone, which was reported in the launch event.
While launching the Android One device, Google made it clear that Google One project is not just for cheap smartphones. Android One was introduced in 2014.
The company was trying to give stock Android to the common customers and also to be guaranteed regular updates to these Budget Segment phones. And India was among those early countries where this OS was introduced. However, this project could not be so popular with Google’s expectations. But since the new launch is clear that this project has not been closed, the company has tried to make it grow.
Xiaomi Mi A1 is being marketed by “created by Xiaomi and powered by Google” tagline. During the launch event, Google also said that Android One will soon be made a part of different types of device and it will not be limited to just the economical segment.
Xiaomi Mi A1 is scheduled to receive the Android 8.0 OroOo update by the end of the year. By the way, it is too early to say anything. Android P also promises to update for next year.
I am a flagship smartphone for Xiaomi, has not been made available at a higher price. That too when Xiaomi Mi6 has not been made available in India so far. Mi A1 specifications are good at price and two rear cameras are welcome. In such a situation, it would be very interesting to see how the fans of Xiaomi react to the MI A1? And how does this strategy prove to be effective for both companies?
Xiaomi Mi A1 Design and Texture
Xiaomi Mi A1 is an upgrade to design in comparison to other redmi devices launched in India. It has a glimpse of the old redmi device, but it is able to make its own identity. Technically, it is a variant of the Chaomai Mi 5X launched in China in July. This phone comes in Black, Gold and Rose Gold color. We were given the Gold Unit for review. Initially, only black and gold variants will be made available. Hope to be brought to Rose Gold later.
On the front panel, there is a 2.5D Curved Gorilla Glass design, which gives the premium feel to the phone. Due to the curved edges, it fits in the hands. Due to the side profile of 7.3 millimeters, it appears slightly slim. Xiaomi has said repeatedly that I will give good sense to A1 hands and we will not even reject this claim completely. Full-metal body is solid. But the last part slips into the hands. We had to take care of this while using the phone. We would suggest that do not forget to take a call with the phone. Compared to Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 and Mi Max 2, I’m looking for an A1 premium.
Xiaomi has compared the A1 to iPhone 7 Plus several times and is able to see similarities between the two of us. Instead of the dual rear camera and antenna line in the A1, you will be reminded of the iPhone 7 Plus. To overcome this shortcoming, the phone has talked about giving dual pyrolytic graphite sheets to the handset. It releases rapid heat and the temperature in the jumps reduces to 2 degrees.
Bottom of the screen is capacitive buttons for Android navigation. Power and volume buttons are on the right side and do not have trouble reaching them. The hybrid dual sim tray is on the left and in infrared emitter top. At the bottom, you will get a USB Type-C port. It also has a 3.5mm jack and a speaker grill.
The fingerprint reader is on the back part and it works fine. Both rear cameras are slightly higher than the surface. They have a two-tone flash with them. There is no branding on the front panel. But on the lower side, I will get the Logo of Android One with the logo below.
In general, Xiaomi Mi A1 looks much better than any other Shoomi handset and gives a good feeling. Xiaomi has taken note of every detail. Whether it is a speaker grill or antenna band line. However, the main problem of the A1’s is that the phone looks like other models of Chaomi and Vivo. By the way, it is a brand new effort from Xiaomifor the software and the series is also new. In such a situation, the company should have worked more on design.
Xiaomi Mi A1 specification and software
In the Xiaomi Mi A1, the Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor has been used, which has been part of the Redmi Note 4 and M Max 2. Xiaomi said during the launch that his attempt was to keep the price of A1 at a price.
The clock speed of this chipset is 2 GHz and 4 GB RAM is provided. Inbuilt storage is 64 GB and it is possible to use the MicroSD card up to 128 GB if needed. Like other devices of Shawomi, I also have a hybrid dual sim design on the A1. This means that you have to select one of two Nano SIM cards or one Nano SIM card and MicroSD card.
The phone has a 5.5 inch LTPS display. Its resolution is full-HD (1080×1920 pixels). The pixel is density 403 ppi. The dimensions of the handset are 155.4×75.8×7.3 millimeters and weighing 165 grams The battery is of 3080 mAh. I also have infrared emitters in A1.
The company has felicitously praised the two rear cameras of this phone. You will find 12-megapixel cameras. One of these is W / Angle lens with an aperture lens and second F / 2.6 aperture telephoto lens. The front panel has a 5-megapixel camera with F / 2.0 aperture and it comes with a beautification mode.
Due to the Android One device, Xiaomi Mi A1 will give you the stock Android experience. It runs on Android 7.1.2 Nouga, which is the latest OS for any Android device in today’s date. The best thing about stock Android is that there is no spam app in it. This is a big change for the budget phone.
Even after the promise of stock Android UI, you will also get the Me Feedback, Me Remote and Me Store app pre-installed in Xiaomi Me A1. The camera app in this handset also belongs to Xiaomi. Because Google has not yet released dual camera support for its stock Android camera app.
Compared to the Android 7.1.1 NuGa, the old deficiencies in the new 7.1.2 version have been removed. You will find popular Android Noogas features such as Split Screen Multitasking and App Shortcuts. The avatar of quick settings has changed. If you wish, you can open the notification shade by swinging the fingerprint sensor downward. Apart from this, you can open the camera app by tapping the power button twice. At the end you will get GIF’s support inside the keyboard.
Xiaomi Mi A1 cameras
Xiaomi A1’s two rear cameras are the most important ones. Due to two lenses, you get the 2x optical zoom. You will also get Bokeh effect in pictures. Start with the depth mode. We were successful in taking great pictures with Bokeh effect. In most portrait pictures, the edges were fully defended. But in some shots, some parts of the subject were also blurred with a background. This reduction and lack of clarity in low light. You do not have to do anything differently for this effect.
It works better than Lenovo’s 8 Note (review). Xiaomi claims that the performance of Portrait Mode is equivalent to the iPhone 7 Plus and OnePlus 5. But we believe that Shomei will have to issue several updates to reach that level right now.
Mi A1 autofocus faster and it remains accurate on most occasions. Due to phase detection autofocus (PDAF) and face detection, the camera can quickly lock the focus. Landscape shots are fine.
But there was a shortage of sharpness and detail in the macro shot, especially compared to Max 2. The phone captured photos with texture and detail in sufficient light. However, we could see very little noise in low light. In dark places, the camera of A1 A1 lags behind and pictures come with very little detail.
Xiaomi claims that an enhancement feature has been given to take better pictures in low light in the A1’s Camera app. But after making it active we did not see any major differences.Xiaomi Me Max gave much better results in low light.
The A1’s Camera app will guide you in depth mode. You will get warnings like “It’s too dark now” and “Move farther from the object”. It will bother the new user.
You will be able to take great pictures from the 5-megapixel front camera with great light. There is no lack of detail in this. The selfie taken in low light was very blurry.
Overall, the dual camera setup is a great feature at this price. And you will not be generally disappointed by this either. But there is a need to work more on performance in low light.
Xiaomi Mi A1 Performance
We found the screen of Xiaomi Mi A1 to be bright enough. Photos and Text Sharp appear. Viewing angles are also good. However, the glass was more reflective than our choice. And while using the sunlight phone, we had to take the brightness to the highest level.
Xiaomi Mi A1 uses the Octa-Core Snapdragon 625 processor, like Redmi Note 4 and Mi Max 2. This is a competent processor. Common use apps run faster 4 GB RAM makes multitasking easy. Touch response is good. There was no shortage during the review. We enjoyed playing Powerless graphics like Last Day on Earth and Asphalt 8. We found that 5.5-inch display video is great for watching. Xiaomi Mi A1’s benchmark score came in the equivalent of m max2 and Xiaomi redmi note 4.
Xiaomi says that he has used the pyrolite graphite sheet to control the temperature of the phone. We can say that we did not even realize the hotness of the phone even while playing the game for a long time. However, the phone gets hot when charging.
Support for 4G VoLTE in Xiaomi Me A1 is available and call quality is also good. The phone also connected to the network in weak areas. IR Emitter worked with the remote app without any problems.
A small room comes with a sufficient sound from the speaker. The voice is also clear. Xiaomi says that smart power amplifier is also used for better sound from earphones. Experience with earphones was great. If you want to listen to songs every day, I will be able to use A1 as an entertainment device. The complaint is that there will be no earphone with the phone.
Xiaomi Mi A1 Battery Life
3080 mAh battery used to be used for about 15 hours. Outlook, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Telegram, Gmail and Whatsapp app were always running in the handset’s background. In our HD Video Loop Test the Mi A1 battery lasted about 10 hours and 18 minutes. It will be said rightly. There is a problem with Xiaomi Mi A1 that gives a weak battery performance compared to other devices in Xiaomi. It took about two hours for the phone to be fully charged in the battery, which can not be called bad.
When Android One was launched a number of promises were made. But they can not be fulfilled. Now Xiaomi and Google have tried to give a new face to Android One. But how effective it will be, it will be known only in the coming time.
In terms of price, Xiaomi Mi A1 is a very handsome handset. Metal body and oval finish are excellent. Display and common performance are good. The user will get stock Android experience for the first time in Xiaomi’s phone. If you do not like the MUI then this phone is for you. The dual camera works.
But the company should pay more attention to photography in low light. Battery life is also average. In these departments, other phones of Xiaomi also work well.
Rs. 14,999 will be available at Xiaomi Mi A1 Flipkart, Me dot com, offline store and company’s own m home store. Its sale will begin on September 12. Xiaomi has made a distinct identity with the MEU software. But how do customers respond to this phone, it would be very interesting to see.
